Jesus Romero
My name is Jesus Romero, and I am a Judo Facilitator at Higher Ground with over 10 years of experience teaching martial arts, parkour, and physical education in Tucson. Born in Sonora, Mexico, I migrated to Yuma, Arizona, at the age of 6 and later moved to Tucson to study music composition and theory at the University of Arizona. Around that time, I met Sensei Steve Owen and became a part of Tucson Dojo, deepening my martial arts journey.
While in Tucson, I had the privilege to practice various disciplines, including ballet, capoeira, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), enriching my understanding of movement and body dynamics. My passion for movement and instruction drives me to create an empowering learning environment. I focus on developing both the physical and mental resilience of my students, helping them achieve their personal goals while fostering discipline and confidence. In my leisure time, I enjoy cooking, philosophy, chess, and spending time with my family.
